Until You Find Out

Crystal skies in the morning
Waters that run clear from before history’s dawning
Until they found out that the ocean floor was deeper
Than the slightest doubt that to dump the waste was cheaper
Now it’s all about being needier and greedy

And like everybody I’d always use
Disposable time-saving ever-lasting refuse
One day I found out that they don’t break down for light years
I can hardly doubt we’ll be gone but they’ll still be here
Still I’d scream and pout, I can’t live without …

All the plastic playthings that I consume
I wore a genuine fur coat and occasionally perfume
Until I found out how they kill to get a clean hide
Until I found out that they burn them from the inside
I no longer doubt I can live without

My fine high-polluting carriage
Disposable time-saving ever-lasting garbage
And when you find out what the little man is earning
And once you find out why the rainforests are burning
Until you find out I know it’s easier to buy it
Until you find out who you’re hurting in your quiet
Until you find out we can’t live

Without crystal skies in the morning
Waters that run clear
From before history’s dawning
